There is a growing framework of legislation in place regarding the management of company vehicles and drivers which has increased the accountability of companies and its directors to meet their duty of care responsibilities towards their employees.  These responsibilities include whether the employee is using a company vehicle or whether they are using their own vehicle for company business, (often referred as Grey Fleet).

On the 6th April 2008, the corporate manslaughter and homicide act was introduced, where in a worst case scenario’s companies can face unlimited fines coupled with custodial sentence for the company directors.  Business drivers have collision rates that are 30-40% higher than those of private drivers, which equates to 25 road deaths and 250 serious injuries per week involves someone driving at work.
