Duty of Care

There is growing framework of legislation in place regarding company vehicles and drivers which has greatly increased the accountability of companies and directors to fully meet their Duty of Care responsibilities towards their employees. This is especially important in relation to drivers undertaking business mileage, whether in a company provided vehicle or their own. It can no longer be assumed that an employee is eligible to drive on business, or their spouse is fit and able to drive their vehicle, based purely on a photocopy of a driving licence.

Zalda can provide a detailed company vehicle policy document as well as driver handbooks. These are now essential to provide clear rules and guidance to company drivers in respect of how and when they drive. We can provide driver risk assessment both physical and online, and when necessary even one to one driver training.

Via our online services we can monitor and check driving licence validity, maintain an up to date record of vehicle mileage and maintenance ensuring our clients are achieving their cost plans. Some clients prefer a regular field visit and vehicle check, this is undertaken by one of our appointed fully qualified mechanics, who provide a fact sheet of the vehicle condition and advisory actions together with a cost estimate. This has proved a great means of companies regaining cost control of their fleet whilst ensuring they meet all their ongoing obligations in respect of Duty of Care.
